Schalke 04 v PAOK Salonika predictions and betting tips

Schalke 04 has had a poor domestic start 1 point in two matches.  In their last match they were duly outplayed by Wolfsburg and deserved to lose 4-0. On their day we know Schalke can compete. When Champions League football is at stake I expect offensive players like Farfan, Draxle and perhaps Szalai to shine while the defense gets it act together and actually start defending. Influential striker Klaas-Jan Huntelaar will sit this one out.

PAOK Salonkia just got going domestically. A 3-0 home win against Xanthi shows they have a running touchdown this season. PAOK are lucky losers of sorts as they were originally knocked out by a very strong Metalist side. However, Metalist has been denied Champions League football for old match fixing sins dating back to 2008. A legal battle is looming as Metalist management doesn’t seem to be too thrilled with that decision made by the Court of Arbitration.

In this match Schalke will be without forward Klaas-Jan Huntelaar, defender Sead Kolasinac (did not play so far this season), defender Kyriakos Papadopoulos (did not play so far this season), AM/forward Chinedu Obasi (did not play so far this season). PAOK Salonica will be without midfielder Zvonimir Vukic, midfielder Pablo Garcia, and defender Nikolaos Spyropoulos

Schalke 04 - PAOK Salonika betting tips

Schalke has met two good sides in HSV and Wolfsburg in the Bundesliga. PAOK is probably not a tougher opponent than them. However, the 1x2 odds for Schalke 04 are useless.  Schalke will obviously attack like headless chickens as usual, but PAOK is pretty tight defensively. Especially playing away from home! Last season they only let in 11 goals in 15 Super Liga matches. Here they will get lots of opportunities on the break. If they can convert them to goals an upset could be on the cards.

I find it hard to bet against a team like Schalke! Sure they most likely will concede a goal or two, but they can quite easily score a few too. The best compromise bet I could find is my betting tip.
