Viktoria Plzen is 6-2-0 so far domestically and they’ve gone through three rounds of Champions League qualification winning all six matches. Obviously we deal with a quality side here. They have a fine mix between experience and younger players. In Limbersky, Kolar, Petrzela and Duris they have current internationals, and they have at least a handful of players with U21 experience. As most champion sides out of the Czech Republic Plzen is great on the counter, and very hard to break down. Coach Vrba will here have to do without central defender Cisovsky. He scored five goals in qualification, so the man is obviously a threat also in the final third. He'll be missed.

Manchester City is 2-1-1 so far domestically. This side has so much potential, but coach Pellegrini is like most first season coaches learning his Premier League strategy the hard way. In the weekend he could easily have lost away to Stoke, but it ended 0-0. For all their attacking talent, they seem to lack that cynicism needed to win things, and they do not look water proof at the back at all either. Why Martinez was chosen over Lescott in the Center of defense last week I don’t understand. Poor Martinez is played out of position no end. Kompany could be fit to play here. That would obviously be a major boost and a massive upgrade. Richards is still out though. So are Clichy, Demichelis and the creative David Silva. Given the squad they’ve got at Man City you expect them to manage though.

There is no doubt Manchester City is the better side, but I think they’re priced way to low. After all, this is the Champions League! This Viktoria Plzen side has great footballing skills. They’re very organized, and they can sting on the counter. It is not going to be a walk in the park for a side that can’t beat Stoke or Cardiff away, a side still looking for it's identity under a new coach.
