Viktoria Plzen is top of the pops in the competitive Czech Liga after five matches. In the Champions League qualification so far they knocked out Zeljeznicar   6-4 on aggregate after a 4-3 win at home, as well as a 2-1 away. Kalju was disposed in the next round by winning 4-0 away and then 6-2 at home in Plzen at the Doosan Arena.

Maribor is a perfect five out of five in Slovenia so far. They have knocked out Maltese minnows Birkirkara 2-0 on aggregate as well as the decent Cypriot side APOEL Nicosia (1-1 on aggregate, but Maribor went through due to the away goal). They’ve lost a promising striker in Beric this transfer window, but the replacements they’ve brought in have done really well for them domestically. I doubt he'll be missed here.

Viktoria Plzen reched the group stages of the Champions League in 2011/2012, and undoubtedly has the better side. I’d be very surprised if they wouldn’t make their superiority well known in this tie. Maribor showed they could defend against APOEL so I won’t be looking at the wider Asian handicaps here. I do think the -1 line priced at 1.725 (73/100) is more interesting that the 1x2 odds of 1.50 (1/2) though. Plzen will charge forward knowing they can get a comfortable result here making the trip to Maribor more of a sightseeing trip. They won’t stop at 1-0!
