BRAZIL - SPAIN: PREDICTIONS

The game all neutrals wanted to see in the final, both group winners and two of the best sides in the world at the moment. Brazil will be glad of the competitive fixtures after a long toil of friendlies. The World Cup hosts do tend to suffer due to this and this Confederations Cup will serve well as preparation. Spain had to overcome a penalty shootout against Italy but some excellent technique served them well as they scored all 7 penalties with ease.

Brazil made it four wins from four after casting aside Uruguay in the semi-finals. Group wins over Italy, Japan and Mexico where all richly deserved and this Brazil side are capable of big things with a little tinkering. Left attacker Hulk is a player of undoubted quality but he does not fit into this Brazilian side. As soon as diminutive attacker Bernard came on the whole shape of the team looked better and more balanced. Central defence is no place for a David Luiz and Chelsea fans and Brazil fans alike know this. Defensively lacking and always capable of erring he is not one to rely on. Apart from that Brazil look quality all over, wingbacks Alves and Marcelo are among the best in the world. Oscar looks quality in his attacking midfield role. Fred is one of those players who do very little but score in every game, a decent quality in a forward. Paulinho is an underrated player who fits in well to the team. In Thiago Silva Brazil possess one of the best central defenders in the game. Options on the bench are varied and there is quality back up in all areas.

Spain made it 3 wins and 1 draw and find themselves in a continental final again. After Group wins over Tahiti, Uruguay and Nigeria Spain eased into the semi-final against big rivals Italy. In the Semi, Spain found themselves struggling to impose their normal manic passing style on the game and very nearly came unstuck. Looking as ordinary as I have seen them in a long time they gave the ball away needlessly and looked devoid of ideas for long periods. Torres offered little up front and until winger Jesus Navas came on for the ineffectual David Silva there was very little attacking intent at all. Spain looked a bit jittery at the back too and a draw was a fair result. If Spain struggled during the match their penalty technique was top drawer. 7 kicks and 7 goals with Buffon nowhere near any of them.

BRAZIL - SPAIN: BETTING TIPS

For the 1st time in a long while Spain looked ordinary and the rest of world football will hope for a changing of the guard. Brazil have many, many attacking options and in front of a partisan home crowd to have the ability to defeat this Spain side. The Spanish struggled to retain the ball and with little space or time on the ball were totally ineffective. I think this will be a close game but will take Brazil To Win Tournement at 1.91. This way we get extra time and penalties as it could be as close as that.
