SPAIN - ITALY: PREDICTIONS
Confederations cup Semifinal day and it’s an all European match up. World & European champions Spain are 3 from 3 and are big favourites against Italy. Fortaleza is the venue in what is a exciting tie.
Spain have done what they always do and win matches without really breaking sweat. Three wins from three with Uruguay, Nigeria and Tahiti all cast aside. Spain destroyed Uruguay in what was a game of total dominance. That they only managed to win 2-1 is a slight worry but they took apart the South American giants with ease. Indeed only a 30 yard screamer from Luis Suarez made the game look a contest. Second game up and Spain rested 10 of the 11 starters and still managed to beat Tahiti 10-0. Fernando Torres turned back the years with four goals and in truth the game was an embarrassment. Tahiti are ranked alongside Luxembourg and in truth they are far worse than them. Last game saw the 1st team return and it was back to business as Xavi and Iniesta and company took apart a lively Nigeria side 3-0 with left back Jordi Alba enjoying acres of space and netting twice. Torres scored a cracking diving header and is finally starting to resemble the LFC striker who was amongst the best in the world. The Spain side needs no deconstruction as they will simply pass the opposition to death again.
Italy’s slim hopes of deposing rivals Spain all but evaporated with the news talisman striker Mario Ballotelli will miss the game with an injury. Italy have managed to battle their way through to runners up in Group A but in truth they have looked very unlike the Italy sides we are used to. Only just managing to beat a doughty Mexico side 2-1 and scrapping toe to toe with Japan in a thrilling 4-3 win show there are problems for Italy. Against Brazil in the last game they were never in the game and looked inferior in all departments. Italy seem unsure of themselves at the back and I am not sure the central pairing of Chiellini and Bonucci is any better than Chiellini and Barzagli. Italy will likely move to a 3-5-2 to try and swamp Spain but like so many times before it will not be enough.
SPAIN - ITALY: BETTING TIPS
Spain will take apart Italy and move into the finals with little fuss. The Italian side may have had a chance of sorts with the unpredictable Ballotelli but all hope has gone now he is confirmed out. Soldado has looked ok so far upfront but I think Vicente Del Bosque may go with the invigorated Fernando Torres who has started to play with confidence. Italy will battle for the entire game, no doubt but they face the best side in world football and will go the way of countless others. We have had 31 match ups for these teams and it’s a tie with 10 wins each. Spain will surge ahead though over the next few years starting with a win here. Ladbrokes have not moved at all with their handicaps and are huge at Spain -1. 1.69 is massive and you are advised to hurry with your bets as this gift will not last long.
