They defended well and battled hard against the comfortable Germans. A penalty on the stroke of halftime was enough to take the lead and they saw out the game to win 2-0. No injury or suspension news for France here. Portugal finally won a game in normal time! They beat Wales 2-0 and never looked in danger. That took their tournament record to 1 win and 5 draws in 6 matches! They drew all three games in the group – tying with Iceland, Austria and Hungary. They fought a tough 110 minutes with Croatia and looked to be going to penalties before a late Quaresma goal won the day. They did go to penalties against Poland but held their nerve to go through 5-4.  William Carvalho is back from suspension and Pepe although rated doubtful should play here.

The noise will be deafening for the hosts for 90 minutes and they know that if they can stop Ronaldo the job is half done. Portugal have been very negative so far this competition and I don’t see any change for this one. A tight game this should be but I have to take France to do the job in 90 minutes.
