Germany topped their group without actually putting in a decent performance, worrying for all teams left in the competition. They beat Ukraine 2-0 in a dominant game, giving nothing away. They drew with Poland 0-0 in a game that looked like the captains had shook on before kick off. Final match was a 1-0 win over a limited Northern Ireland. Germany rotated a few and although they had many chances they never over stretched themselves. Jerome Boateng is a big doubt here and will likely sit out. Slovakia finished as one of the best 3^rd place teams, behind England and Wales in their group. They lost 2-1 to Wales in a game they deserved nothing from, they redeemed themselves with a  2-1 win over Russia in a game they were well on top in. A defensive 0-0 draw with England was probably fair enough although Slovakia were not very adventurous here.  No injury or suspension worries here.

Slovakia did beat Germany 3-1 in a warm up match in May but that will have little bearing here. Slovakia haven’t looked very good so far. They were inferior to Wales and what was a 2^nd string England side. They beat Russia but that was about it. Germany are yet to get out of 1^st gear this competition and are fresh going into the knockouts. I take a win to nil for Germany at Evens bet365.
