AIK V PSV PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: MATCH STATS AND FACTS

AIK has finished their domestic season already and finished 4^th in table.  They ended with 15 wins, 10 draws and 5 losses from their 30 matches and were 4 points behind eventual winners Elfsborg.  In the Europa League they have not had a great start with just 1 point from 3 matches which leaves them bottom of the group.  They do have two home games remaining and must win both to have any chance of progressing to the knockout stages.

PSV are currently 2^nd in the Eredivisie but are catching up with the leaders quickly.  They have won 9 of their 11 matches, losing the remaining 2 and have 27 points from 11 matches, leaving them just 1 point off leaders Twente.  PSV has won their last 6 league matches and are looking in excellent form.  In the Europa League they have 4 points from 3 matches and are in 2^nd place in the group.  They only have one home match remaining so must get a result away from home if they are to qualify from the group.

TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

AIK are in a strange position with their domestic league having already finished but having games remaining in the Europa League.  This could be seen as having benefits since their players will have plenty of rest between matches and the coaches will be able to fully concentrate on planning for the matches.  But players need match practice to stay sharp so 2 weeks between each game may be too long, and even if they arrange friendly matches it isn’t the same as a competitive match.

PSV have no such problems and are just getting into peak fitness 11 games into their season.  They are playing excellent football and bar a few early blips they have looked very strong, their last 5 matches for example see them winning by an aggregate score of 19-3.  Their main focus this year will be on winning the title but that doesn’t mean they will ignore the Europa League, for teams from smaller markets like the Netherlands, this competition can be their only chance to have a sustained European run.

PSV are strong favourites despite being the away side here.  They are in great form and AIK will be tired after finishing a full 30 game season at the weekend.

Coral are offering an excellent 1.73 on a PSV win, which I will be betting quickly before it falls.

The AH market is giving a handicap of PSV -0.75.  This means half your bet will be on a regular win but half on PSV -1.  Any win will lead to a profit but to win the full bet you’ll need PSV to win by 2 or more clear goals.

With PSV being the favoured team you can put some more credence into their record and the market agrees with the Over a favourite here. 

I still believe there is some value to be had with Ladbrokes who are offering Over 2.5 Goals at 1.80
