BENFICA V FENERBAHCE PREDICTIONS

This Europa League semi-final is set up for an epic finish with it all to play for in the second leg.

The first leg saw Fenerbahce at home in a very tight match.  No team dominated the possession with it 51/49 to Fenerbahce and both teams had just 3 shots on target.  Fenerbahce eventually broke the deadlock in the 72^nd minute with a goal from centre back Egemen Korkmaz but that was the only scoring from the match.  Benfica won’t be too upset with the result as they know they can easily pull back a 1 goal deficit with their excellent home form.

Fenerbahce got back to winning ways in the Super Lig at the weekend with a 2-1 win over Kayserispor to keep their 6 point lead over third placed Besiktas for the final Champions League spot.  They are still 7 points behind leaders Galatasaray though so 2^nd is looking like their most likely position.

Benfica are still undefeated in the Primeira Liga with 22 wins and 4 draws from 26 games.  They have are having an excellent duel with Porto who are also undefeated but have drawn 2 more matches.

Both teams will have aspirations of the Champions League next season but they’ll still be going allout to win this competition and have the prestige of winning a major European tournament.
