BENFICA V NEWCASTLE UNITED PREDICTIONS

Newcastle have the toughest draw of any English side in the Europa League Quarter Finals, with a trip to Benfica for the first leg.

Benfica are having an excellent season domestically and top the Portuguese Primeira Liga with a huge 64 points after 24 matches.  That’s 20 wins, 4 draws and 0 losses!  Despite that excellent record they are only 4 points ahead of Porto who are also undefeated this season.  What are the chances two teams finish the season without losing a match?!

Newcastle are still fighting for points in the Premiership and are currently in 15^th position with 33 points from 31 games.  This has them just 3 points above the relegation zone and they could be dragged into the fight unless they start picking up some points quickly. 3 defeats in their last 4 EPL matches have not helped but they have all come away from home so two straight upcoming home matches should give them a chance to pick up points.
