CLUB BRUGES V NEWCASTLE PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

Club Bruges are having a tough time in the Belgian Pro League at the moment and are in 8^th place with 22 points from 14 matches.  Their recent form has been atrocious with 5 straight losses in all competitions.  In the Europa League they are still in with a chance in the group with 3 points after 3 matches.  They have lost both their away fixtures but won at home to Maritimo, they must win their two remaining home games to have any chance of qualifying.  3 of their last 5 matches have ended with over 2.5 goals.

Newcastle are struggling to live up to their excellent 5^th place finish in the EPL last year and find themselves in 10^th place with 14 points from 10 games.  They are undefeated in 4 games however with 2 wins and 2 draws in all competitions.  In the Europa League they are undefeated having won their two home matches and drawn away at Maritimo, they are 3 points clear at the top of the group and another win will confirm their participation in the knockout stages.  2 of their last 5 matches have ended with over 2.5 goals.

Club Bruges seem to be in turmoil currently, after staying undefeated for their first 10 league matches they have lost 4 in a row, including two home matches.  They have quickly fallen down the league and will struggle to keep up with the teams ahead if they don’t turn things around quickly.

One bright spark for Bruges is striker Carlos Bacca who signed last winter from Junior for €2.5m.   He has quickly settled into life in Bruges and has scored an excellent 11 league goals in just 10 starts this season.

Newcastle has been fairly inconsistent this year but has struggled with injuries to key players.  They were for a time without Tim Krul and Fabricio Coloccini who are probably their two most important defensive players and they are still missing Cheikh Tiote who is huge for them in midfield.

Since last month their injuries have reduced somewhat Newcastle have not lost a match since 7^th October, with 2 draws and 2 wins.  They should begin to move up the table and fight for a Europa League spot for next season.

Club Bruges are favourites here as the home side, this despite having lost their previous two home games in the league.  Newcastle have somewhat rested their first team players in this competition but they have still put out competitive sides and I would expect the same this time round.
