Sporting has started the season very poorly with no wins from their first 3 Primeira Liga games.  They have had two 1-1 away draws against Horsens and Maritimo and lost at home 1-0 to Rio Ave. 

Basel have went off form lately also with a draw and loss in their previous two Super League games.  Before that they were undefeated for their first 6 games so will be hoping to get back to winning ways quickly.

1x2 Bets

Despite their poor start to the year Sporting are favourites for this match at home at 1.73 with Paddy Power.  The draw is 3.88 and a Basel win 5.46, both with Pinnacle.

Sporting has not had a mass exodus of players this season so their poor form is hard to explain.  They lost a few first team players but replacements were brought in and more money was spent than received so they should have improved the squad if anything.

Basel on the other hand lost two of their top players in Shaqiri and Xhaka who went for a combined €20m, only €5m of that was reinvested in the team which is not ideal for a team with title ambitions.

Asian Handicap

Sporting are expected to be strong in this match with the handicap set at Sporting -0.75 @ 2.0 with Paddy Power.  This is a very good price in my opinion and should be taken quickly as it is likely to move.

Under 2.5 Goals is a favourite here at 1.83 with BetVictor and the Over at 2.1 with Paddy Power.
