PANATHINAIKOS – TOTTENHAM PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS

Panathinaikos have been in shocking form this season with no wins in their last 6 matches.  They are in 12^th position with 4 points from 5 games, albeit with a -2 point penalty due to fan riots from last season.  Their first Europa League match was a poor display in a 3-0 defeat at Maribor.

Tottenham are undefeated in 7 matches and have won 3 in a row.  They have found their scoring touch with 8 goals in their last 3 matches and all of those finishing with over 2.5 Goals.  Their first Europa League match was a 0-0 home draw with Lazio, with a full strength side put out.

TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY

Panathinaikos have had a really poor start to the season and look unlikely to feature near the European places this time.  For the third season in a row they barely spent any money improving the squad, instead relying on loans and free transfers, this along with losing some more of their top players on frees have meant a reduction in the quality of the team again.

Tottenham had a shaky start to the season but seem to have found their feet under new boss Andre Villas-Boas.  They have won their last 3 league matches which has vaulted them up the table to 5^th and if right into the fight at the top of the table.  Their direct and pacey style is a nightmare for defences, as we saw with Gareth Bale power past Rio Ferdinand to score an excellent goal in the win at Man Utd on Saturday.

PANATHINAIKOS – TOTTENHAM PREDICTIONS: 1X2 BETTING PREVIEW

Tottenham seem to be taking this competition seriously this year and AVB put out a full strength team in the first group match.  I think that with Panathinaikos’ poor start to the season the value here in definitely with Spurs at above evens.

Coral is offering a top price of 2.1 on the Spurs win which I think is great value.

With the 1x2 odds being 2.1 we can expect the Asian Handicap to be set at Spurs -0.5 and indeed it is.  This time we can get the exact same odds in the AH and 1x2 markets so it doesn’t matter which is chosen here.
