Swansea won the first match 5-1 at home, and it would take a small miracle if they are not to advance to the group stage. The goals were scored by Routledge (14’ and 25’), Michu (22’), Bony (56’) and Pozuelo (70’), while Petrolul got a consolation goal in the 87th minute (though that was the best goal of the match, a spectacular overhead kick by Gicu Grozaw).

Petrolul Ploiesti are currently third in the Romanian Liga I, with three wins and three draws. Their last league match was a 2-1 win against Astra Giurgiu that is currently placed second in the league, so a solid result. Swansea have started their season in poor fashion, losing both matches. Although to be fair they played Manchester United in the first match and Tottenham in the second, so let’s not hold that against them when considering their chances against Petrolul.
