Rosenborg v Bayer Leverkusen predictions and preview: Stats and Facts
Rosenborg are 7-5-1 at home in Tippeligaen, with a goal average of 2.77 goals per game. In their last six competitive home games they are 4-2-0. Four of these six games have ended over 2.5 goals. Rosenborg are 2-3-1 in the last six home games in Europe. Four out of these six games have ended under 2.5 goals. The last game they lost was actually agains Leverkusen in 2010. In European Qualification this season they are 1-2-0. Two out of those three games went over 2.5 goals. They won their first Europa League game away against Rapid Wien. The match was played in front of empty stands. Leverkusen are 3-1-2 in their first six Bundesliga games, with a goal average of 2.67 goals per game. They have played three away games there and are: 1-0-2. In Europe last year they were 0-1-2 in the Champions League group stages. They lost to Valencia and Chelsea, but got a 1-1 against Genk. Two out of these three games were under 2.5 goals. After the group stages they crashed out of the CHL to Barcelona (10-2 on aggregate). They opened their Europa League campaign with a 0-0 home game against a very decent Metalist side. Given the run of play they definitely deserved to win as they outshot their opponents. However, it was not to be as conversion was poor.
Teamnews and run of play
For Rosenborg, Reginiussen is a doubt, but should shake of his injury. In general Rosenborg will field a very good team. So will Leverkusen, as they seem to take the Europa League seriously. The stars: Schürrle, Kießling and Bender are expected to play. The two teams met in 2010 at Lerkendal, also in the Europa League. I would argue Rosenborg had a stronger team then than now and they lost 0-1. Since then Skjelbred, Annan and Demidov have moved on to greener, and higher paying grass. Rosenborg however have good things going for them. For instance, their midfield puts in a shift in offense too. Goals really come from all over the pitch when Rosenborg play. This makes them rather unpredictable. Leverkusen is nearly always near the very top in the Bundesliga. Last season was poor by their standard (5th), and the rock solid ex-defender Sami Hypiaa in a manager role together with Sascha Lewandowski. They opened this season poorly, but with five goals in the last two games things are looking on the up. Leverkusen will surely try to build on that.
I expect, like in 2010 Leverkusen to dominate Possession. Back then they had 62% ball time. I can't see why it should be much different this time. Rosenborg will try to counter with precision, and build on their own possession. In the nineties one could have set Rosenborg as favorites. Times have been a'changing though and RBK is far away from their world beating best. That said, I do absolutely not think it will be easy pickings for the German side. Rosenborg has plenty of European experience, something their stats clearly shows.
Rosenborg v Bayer Leverkusen predictions and preview: 1X2 betting
After reading my own ramblings I conclude with giving the nod to Leverkusen. They have a better side, have found form in the Bundesliga and won this fixture as late as in 2010 against a better Rosenborg side than the one they meet now. I think 2.15 is worth a shot, and not many bookies offer that good a price. I take it at Betsafe, a bookmaker that has lots of Norwegian customers, probably betting more with their heart than their brain, hence giving us this nice price.
If you agree with my reasoning, take 2.15 with Betsafe here.
Rosenborg - Bayer Leverkusen predictions and preview: Asian Handicap predictions
Given Rosenborg's probable defensive gameplan, and Leverkusen's wasteful conversion (overall this season) I am going to go for a narrow handicap. Better winning than sorry is my mantra. A good ole fashioned Draw No Bet Asian Handicap looks fine. 1.55 is odds I like, and I can assure you I take it. I found that odds at Bet365.
A DNB Asian Handicap looks very good here in my opinion, take it with the formidable Bet365 here
Rosenborg vs Bayer Leverkusen preview: Total Goals predictions
I think this game will be all about Leverkusen's luck in front of goal. They will be allowed to dictate terms on the pitch, and Rosenborg will try to shore up their defence and only push forward like they actually can at their best, only need be. I would have to say given my predictions that an under 2.5 goals game is more likely than over. Most likely I would say its somwhere between 54% and 56% chance of a under game given the data I have and my reading of the game. I therefore find 1.95 as offered by Bet365 a clear value play not to be missed.
1.95 for under 2.5 goals at Bet365 is found here
