Europa Liga time and Skonto Riga return to the competition after being barred for non payments of debts last season. The Latvians have not been at their usual high domestic level of late either. They hold 15 league titles (14 of them consecutively) but have not won one since 2010. Their European travails have seen 74 games and have 26 wins, 14 draws and 34 losses which is very  good for this stage of the competition.  Recent games include wins over Hajduk Split and Debrecen so the Irish shouldn’t hold many scares for them.  Skonto are 10 games into the season with 5 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses.  St Patricks although one of the mainstays of Irish football are not one of the most successful. They have 9 league titles but that goes back to the 1950s. They have one win in last 15 years. In Europe they are 48 games with 11 wins, 9 draws and 28 losses.  They have qualified more recently though – knocking out teams such as Karagandy (Kazak) Siroki (Bosnia) and IBV (Iceland) twice.

 

Cant see many goals here at all and will be looking to take the homes side and the unders here. The Irish league is one of the tightest in Europe and St Pats know how to defend. I see a low scoring  game and a 1-0 home win wouldn’t be a bad bet either.
