One of the shocks of the 1st leg ties was tiny Sligo Rovers travelling to Rosenborg and grabbing a 2-1 victory which puts them on the cusp of the next round. Rosenborg are one of the most famous of all Scandanavian sides and have a wealth of European experience. Sligo on the other hand had only ever won 1 tie before this season in 20 matches and that was against Malta minnows Floriana in 1994. This season however Sligo hammered Banga Gardzai of Lithuania 4-0 on aggregate. The 2-1 victory was probably a fair result which is all the more amazing. Sligo go into this game knowing a win, draw or a 1-0 loss takes them through. Only a 2-1 Rosenborg can take it to extra time with any other winning result taking the Norwegians through. It’s a tough one to call here but I take Rosenborg to win the game. They will be more organized you feel and they will be forced to
take Sligo seriously. Maybe for them there was a lack of respect for the Irish guys and that wont be the case here.
We take a chance on a Rosenborg to qualify here. They are 3.00 or 2/1 with PaddyPower but will shorten before the game begins. They need a 2 goal victory or at least a 2-1 one goal victory to go through. I believe they have the quality to do this.
