Group A matchday 2 and an intriguing tie in Riga.  Latvia host an ever improving Iceland in a game that may spring a surprise.  Latvia go into this one on the back of a 0-0 away draw with Kazahkstan. A game which they were 2^nd best in for long periods. Latvia have had a decent start to the year with 2 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat. They lost to Macedonia but beat Lithuania and Armenia. Latvia are ranked at 99 by fifa with 333 points.  Iceland picked up an astonishing win last round. Thumping Turkey 3-0 in Reyjavik. Iceland were aided by a man off for the visitors but nothing should be taken from them as they were by far the better side. Don’t forget they only just lost out to Croatia in the playoffs to miss out on Rio.  Iceland this year have won 2, drawn 1 and lost 2. Beating Estonia as well as Turkey, but losing to Wales and Sweden.

Tough game this one but for me Iceland are on a role. The recent results of this year are mixed but the only ones that matter are qualifiers. They beat Turkey with ease while Latvia struggled for 90 minutes in Kazahstan. I take Iceland to top the group after this one with two wins from two.
