PORTUGAL u20 – SOUTH KOREA u20: PREDICTIONS

The Fifa U20 World Cup continues with the 2^nd round of games in Group B. Portugal u20 opened up with a partly impressive performance to overcome Nigeria 3-2,  while South Korea were largely disappointing but still managed a win against minnows Cuba.

Portugal u20 played fantastic football for long periods and looked really threatening. Skipper Joao Mario was the architect for most of the good play for Portugal and Bruma was the chief danger. The Sporting Lisbon man netting twice, in what was an impressive performance. Worryingly though the back line was really slack and let Nigeria back into the game with 2 sloppy goals. Indeed Portugal were hanging on grimly at the end. The hard work is done however with two easy games remaining and Portugal should make the knockout stages for sure.

South Korea u20 were very much below par in their opening fixture against group outsiders Cuba. Indeed they were so sluggish they even fell behind to an early goal from a corner. You could tell how surprised Cuba were to be even in the game as they celebrated as if they had actually won the tournament. South Korea plodded on but never looked overly threatening and even though they did manage to score twice and win the game they will really have to step up their game if they wish to challenge Portugal and Nigeria. Standout player for the Koreans was Ryo Seungwoo, who was the best player on the pitch but should scored more than one goal.
