AUSTRALIA – COSTA RICA: BETTING TIPS AND PREDICTIONS

Australia ended up qualifying for World Cup 2014 comfortably in the end. Finishing 2^nd with 3 wins, 4 draws and 1 defeat in Group B.  Although qualification was gained unpopular German coach Holger Osieck was sacked due to some dismal results in the meantime. A run of 5 games without a win which saw heavy losses to Brazil, France, Japan and China. In that run Australia managed 5 goals but conceded 19 which is amazing. Costa Rica qualified through the convoluted  Central and North zone, finishing 2^nd behind USA and comfortable. Costa Rica’s performances were based around a solid defence and they were the best in the division. Home comforts were best also as they won all 5 games at their fortress, on the road pickings where slim with not a single victory (3 draws and 2 defeats)

Costa Rica on the road hardly ever results in a win and in 9 away games in 2013 only wins came at the useless Canada and Dominican Republic. At a packed Sydney ground Australia will getting behind new coach Ange Postecoglu. I expect a home win here and the odds are also decent due to the poor recent form. Excuses can be made though, the two heavy losses to Brazil and France were poor but the other games were East Asian cup matches were 2^nd string sides were used. Old coach Osieck was disliked by players and fans alike and had lost the dressing room. The new man will have a recharged side out for him and that will make a big difference.
