Croatia v Portugal Predictions

This international friendly is being played in Switzerland.

Croatia lost 1-0 at home to Scotland in the last World cup qualifier. After having been in cruise mode, that result surely will have the Croatians down to earth again. They now have given Belgium an advantage in terms of winning the group! Here they will miss both central defenders from the Scotland game: Schhilenfeld/Simunic. First choice goalie; Pletikosa will be out too. The prolific Mandzukic of Bayern Munich will sit out as well. Natural replacements for him: Da Silva and Jelavic are also going to miss this one. In other words, the coach will have to reshuffle half his team. 

Portugal has no injuries to report from their crucial 1-0 win over Russia. This match has given the Portugal side a boost, and they can now fight for the group win again. Their squad looks fit! I do not have information on how much tinkering there will be. Some is to be expected.

Croatia will still have a solid side going to Switzerland, Modric, Olic, Srna, Rakitic, Corluka and Kranjcar are all very good players. The rest of the starting eleven will consist of players of a high international level too. Portugal obviously has more flair players, and they should be able to control this game possession wise.
