Another Copa America warm up here and two teams who will both be considered outsiders for the title. Peru are one of the weakest sides in Comnebol but they do have ability – they finished 3^rd in the 2011 version. Mexico are a traditional invited team to the tournament to make up the numbers. An important thing to note is they don’t come to win the competition. They always complain about bias and anti-Mexican feelings from the South American officials – so they usually send a younger, inexperienced side. Also they have their own regional finals coming up so the main players will go to that. This game will be played in the high altitude National Stadium in Lima.  Peru have actually had a good 18 months with some really positive results.  They have 5 wins and 5 losses from last 10. Only three matches were played at home and all three won. Mexico as usual are all over the place, playing games at superhuman rate. They are always globetrotting and rack up the matches. Playing  21 matches in last 18 months!  Their run includes winning 12, drawing 4 and losing 5. They have only played 5 actual away games in that period – 1 win, 2 draws and 2 losses. Impressively beating Holland in Amsterdam but following that up with a heavy loss in Belarus.

Its never easy to get any sort of result in Lima. This Mexico side is a bit different to normal as the main squad are being rested for Gold Cup. This is mainly a Mexican league side but will still have some quality. Peru are improving steadily but cannot seem to string a run of results together – they win one and then they lose one and that’s been going on since last September (3 wins and 3 losses) – Here though at home I expect them to battle hard – and do like them draw no bet at surprisingly big odds. 2.50 or 6-4 with Coral on draw no bet is as big as I would have them 1x2!
