This international friendly brings us a proper Nordic battle. Sweden will miss defensive midfielder/Central defender Andreas Granqvist. He is suspended for the next world cup qualifier and the management decided on giving someone else game time. Defenders Behrang Safari, Oscar Wendt and Nils-Eric Johansson as well as midfielders Kim Kallstrom and Samuel Holmen have not been included in the squad.

Make no mistake about it; Sweden has a squad full of decent talent plying their trade across Europe. Their leader is of course Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

In their last ten games Sweden has only lost twice. They’ve beaten England 4-2 in a friendly at home and played 4-4 in World Cup Qualification away to Germany. In terms of World Cup Qualification they’re fighting with a much improved Austria as well as Ireland for the 2^nd spot in the group behind Germany.

Norway’s coach Egil “Drillo” Olsen cancelled the press conference due to illness. There shouldn’t be any issues though. To be honest I like the look of the squad this time around. A lot of youth has been injected. That makes perfect sense as Norway has been producing some excellent results in youth football lately. I just hope they dare play slightly more offensive football than what Egil Olsen usually displays. Youngsters like Henriksen (AZ), Nordtveit (Gladbach), Elyounoussi (Hoffenheim), Skjelbred (HSV) and Pedersen (Vitesse) has a lot of good football in them.

Norway has made life difficult for themselves in terms of Brazil 2014 but they can still challenge if they get back to winning ways sooner rather than later.

Sweden – Norway betting tips

My betting tips is Sweden priced at 1.85 (17/20) on the 1x2. There is simply too much quality in the Swedish squad on paper for Norway to overcome. Also, it is very likely Norway will go for a defensive strategy (surprise surprise, eh no!) I personally think Norway has more of an attacking team. Sitting back and absorbing pressure isn't the strength of these guys! In a few years Norway will perhaps have a better chance, but this looks a tad too early for me.
