ARGENTINA V IRAN: 1st ROUND MATCHES

Argentina were largely unimpressive in the 1st hour agianst Bosnia but did manage to close out a 2-1 win. The shape of the side seemed unbalanced and nothing really clicked for them. Lionel Messi changed everything with a wonder goal though and that they won while not really performing in the hardest game of their group is a good sign. Iran played out a hardworking 0-0 draw with Nigeria. They showed their defensive fortitude but did not offer much in attack. Really organised but limited they are unlikely to leave the group stage.

Argentina never really got going in the opening game but to be fair to them its a new system and even Messi confessed to being nervous infront of a jam packed Maracana.
