Cameroon has lost both their games so far this World Cup. Deservedly so as well! Mexico beat them 1-0, but it could easily have been a bigger win as Mexico had two perfectly good goals disallowed. Cameroon then went on to lose 0-4 to Croatia in a game where Alex Song was sent off. Obviously the sending off affected the result, but Croatia was the best side even 11 vs 11. Croatia was 1-0 up when the red card occurred in the 40th minute.
Alex Song is obviously sitting out due to suspension here. Samuel Etoo is a doubt due to injury.
Brazil has played two decent games so far. They beat Croatia 3-1 in the opener, a game where Croatia was never outplayed and Brazil had a lot of help from a poor referee. They then played 0-0 against Mexico. It must be said Ochoa (keeper) was Mexico’s star performer on the night. Brazil cut the Mexican defense open time and time again but could not make it count. At the other end, Mexico did create more against the Brazilian defense than Scolari would prefer.
Brazil should have Hulk fit to play again. So they are back to full strength.
The importance of the win
The winner of Group A will play number two in Group B, and vice versa. In Group B the two teams progressing are Holland and Chile.
A draw will give Brazil five points in the group. This will worst case get them second place as Croatia can beat Mexico and get six points. Should Mexico win they get seven points. If Mexico and Croatia draw Brazil win the group on goal difference.
Should Brazil win the game they are likely to win the group as they will then have seven points. Mexico could get the same number of points but it is rather unlikely they will overcome the goal difference they are behind.
Run of play
I think Brazil will dominate possession, and Cameroon will be under constant pressure. I do think this will not be as one sided possession wise as Argentina vs Iran was, but not that far behind either.
Cameroon v Brazil betting tips for 1x2
Cameroon has displayed poor discipline this world cup. Assou-Ekotto even headbutted his team mate following the Cameroon – Croatia game. Here they are up against the potential world champions of 2014. They got to be careful, because they are going to get a football lecture.
I do not think Brazil will go easy on Cameroon. I rather think they will want to build momentum going into the knock out stages. That does not bode well for the African nation. I call a big win for Brazil.
