I will try to keep this short, but my thinking goes along these lines: Spain will own possession, and have a solid defense. I do not see the Dutch scoring more than one goal if any here. Spain very often win by narrow margins in the big cups, so a goal fest here is unlikely. That also means a low win margin is quite likely.
As Spain will own possession I think it is very relevant to look at Spain's thirteen 2010 World Cup and 2012 Euro matches. They play a similar style. The squad strenght is pretty much at the same level too. A whopping ten of these thirteen matches went under 2.5 goals. Four of them were won by one goal (within 90 minutes) (indicating odds of 3.25). 3.25 just makes this bet break even in the long run, but:
1. This is a group opener. A game no one wants to lose. It will be tight. I think so tight that the value of this bet increases a fair bit.
2. The Netherlands have a very experienced coach in Van Gaal. He should be able to set up his side in such a way that they do not have to eat humble pie here. Again, this increase the chance for my betting tip.
