AZERBAIJAN – NORTHERN IRELAND: PREDICTIONS

Azerbaijan sit bottom of a group containing Luxembourg, that says it all for the ex Soviet state. There have been encouraging signs for the Azeri but results speak for themselves. Yet to win a single match but they do have 5 draws and only 3 defeats.  Azerbaijan drew with Israel twice which is decent but also managed to draw twice with Luxembourg. Just two wins in 11 games (Malta 3-0 and Leichtenstein 3-0) show the level of the side.

Northern Ireland are a limited side its true but they are a capable side and do have it in them to get a result. Sitting in 4^th position with 1 win, 4 draws and 3 defeats. Northern Ireland have managed to beat Russia and draw in Portugal to highlight their quality. They are capable of the ridiculous though too as they have lost to Luzembourg as well as drawing with them and Malta.

This game looks very likely to be a low scoring match but I have to side with the home team. Northern Ireland are capable of making a game of it against the bigger sides but seem to struggle when they are expected to make some of the play.
