Croatia is second in World Cup qualification group A, five points behind Belgium. Croatia is missing the experienced Simunic (Defender). Other than that the squad picked looks strong.

Belgium can’t get less than second place in this World Cup qualification group. Belgium has Kompany (Defender), Benteke (Striker) and De Bruyne (Attacking midfielder) injured. Dembele (Midfield) is a doubt. Fellaini (Midfield) is to play as he is scheduled for an operation after the two qualifiers to be played now. Belgium has some fantastic squad depth though these days, and in Lukaku they have a striker in fantastic form too.

Croatia has back to back losses at home, but they are undefeated in their last three international matches. Belgium is unbeaten in their last seven. In terms of motivation this is Croatia’s last chance to challenge for the group win. So I expect them to give it a go. Should things not really go their way they will be happy with a draw, and try to become one of the 2^nd spot teams gaining qualification! Belgium can utilize their quick breaks should Croatia try very hard to go for the win, and with Lukaku in fantastic form in the Premiership I am quite sure Benteke won’t be missed.
