LIECHTENSTEIN - SLOVAKIA PREDICTIONS

Liechtenstein take on Slovakia in World Cup Qualifying Group G. The visiting side are chasing hard at the heels of Bosnia and Greece but need a run of wins to have any hope of catching them. Three points should be a case of just turning up at Rheinpark Stadium in Vaduz.

Liechtenstein are struggling again with a series of poor performances and results. It may be a long time before the country even gets a chance of finishing 2^nd bottom of a group stage. The squad is generally poor and they are whipping boys for any side of note. I watched them in two recent friendly games against  Malta and they were clear second best there and struggled to match the levels of even them,  losing to the Maltese both home and away.  Recent form is predictably awful with 1 win, 1 draws and 8 defeats. They have managed 4 goals and conceded  21. The solitary win was over Andorra and the draw was with Latvia. In this Group they sit in 6^th with 0 win, 1 draw and 4 defeats.

Slovakia are not in the greatest recent form but do still have a chance of qualification. Without a win in five matches they have to go back to October 2012 till their last victory.  Since New Year 2012 Slovakia’s overall record is 4 wins, 3 draws and 6 defeats. They have scored 12 and conceded 14, One thing to bear in mind with Slovakia is that they tend to play high quality opposition in friendlies. So their form holds up a little better. The Slovakian side is quite a young side on the international stage and they seem to have gone through a few changes. They have a decent core of players with Marek Hamsik the superstar, all the players around him all play for top clubs around Europe but most would be hard pressed to name another elite Slovakian player. Slovakia sit 3^rd in Group G with 2 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat.

Slovakia are the selection here in what should a straightforward win for the fairly new nation. Liechtenstein are plugging away gamely but not a side who can trouble many. Although they do not tend to get hammered (Bosnia 8-1 the only defeat by more than 2 goals since November 2011). Slovakia should win easily but the odds are quite big really. 1.35 is a decent price here and odds should be lower than 1.20 for sure.
