You could argue Mexico are fortunate to get this play off chance after managing only fourth of six in their CONCACAF section. The match up against a team ranked fifty five places below them should see a comfortable two legged win in all honesty though. The decision to select virtually all Mexico based players, including ten from Club America who national team coach Herrera represents. That means no Hernandez, Dos Santos or Moreno, with coach Herrera arguing the home based players had more time to prepare as a team for the crucial two legged match. New Zealand topped the Oceania section, but the likes of the Solomon Islands is a bit different to an away trip to the Azteca, 7200 feet above sea level. The sides have met twice in friendlies, both ending in Mexico wins to nil. Captain Winston Reid is out for the Kiwis.
