NORTHERN IRELAND - RUSSIA : PREDICTIONS

World Cup Qualifiers continue with an exciting tie in Northern Ireland.  Russia visit Windsor Park and will be expected to take all three points home.

Russia as usual are in a good position in their tough World Cup qualifying tournament. In a group with Portugal and Israel they sit 2 points behind leaders Portugal with 2 games in hand. They have 4 wins from 5 games and just the 1 draw in the Group. Beating Azerbaijan, Northern Ireland and impressively Portugal at home. On their travels they have hammered Israel 4-0 but lost to Portugal. In the qualifying they have been very strong indeed, defensively rigid and organised as you would expect of any Fabio Capello side. Scoring 8 and conceding just 1 with four clean sheets. Friendly games have been more relaxed with three draws and 1 win.  Russia are another side blighted by a lack of a decent striker. Aleksandr Kerzhakov is the best of the bunch but he can be a bit wasteful.
