POLAND V ENGLAND PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS
Poland has made a strong start to their World Cup Qualifying picking up 4 points in their first two group games. A 2-2 away draw in Montenegro was followed by a 2-0 home win over Moldova and they will feel they can fight for at least 2nd place in the group.
England has played 3 qualifying matches so far and remains undefeated, but they will not be totally happily with their performances and results so far. An initial excellent 5-0 win away at Moldova was followed by a disappointing 1-1 draw at home to Ukraine. An easy and expected 5-0 home win at San Marino will not change anything and this leaves the match in Poland very important for England’s progress.
TEAM NEWS AND RUN OF PLAY
Poland did not have a qualifying match on Friday like the majority of countries so played a friendly against South Africa which they won 1-0. We can’t read too much into this result however with neither team playing their full strength sides and Poland substituting over half their team. The last competitive game we seen from Poland was a 2-0 home win over Moldova last month. They dominated the game with nearly 60% possession and 14 attempts on goal to 11. The main player charged with scoring Poland’s goals will be Borussia Dortmund striker Robert Lewandowski, it has been rumoured that many English clubs including Manchester United are interested in signing him so they will be looking on his display with expectation.
England sit top of group E currently, having played a game more than their rivals. Their match on Friday was probably the easiest tie in World football, a home match against San Marino. It wasn’t the walk in the park England fans expected despite the 5-0 score-line and not all players came out of the game with pass marks. This will certainly be a bigger test for England, especially their new central defence partnership of Jagielka and Cahill, with Terry retired and Rio Ferdinand overlooked these two will be hoping to win the starting places long term. It will also be an important game for right winger Aaron Lennon who should get the start in place of injured Theo Walcott, his performances for Tottenham this season have been excellent and he will hope to transfer that form into the international stage. Other injuries include Frank Lampard and Ryan Bertrand of Chelsea who have both been ruled out.
POLAND – ENGLAND PREDICTIONS: 1X2 BETTING PREVIEW
Despite being the away team England are favourites for this match. I believe they have the quality throughout the team to cause Poland problems, especially Rooney playing in the number 10 role behind a main striker like Wellbeck.
The generous odds of 2.0 Ladbrokes are offering on an England win seem too good to miss for me and I’ll be going there to get my bet on before the odds change. If you agree that England possess far more quality than their opponents then visit Ladbrokes to bet!
POLAND – ENGLAND PREDICTIONS: ASIAN HANDICAP PREVIEW
The Asian market has an England win to be just as likely as any other result. The top price for England -0.5 is 1.96 with 188bet but as we seen above the 1x2 market offers the same bet at superior odds. Stick with that if you are backing England here. If you think Poland can hang on for a draw or even sneak a win then the AH of Poland +0.5 is for you, Pinnacle are giving you 1.96 on it which is a strong price.
POLAND – ENGLAND PREDICTIONS: TOTAL GOALS PREVIEW
England’s recent goal totals have been inflated by games against San Marino and Moldova where they managed 5 goals in each. If you look at games against tough opposition, specifically this summer in the European Championship then you’ll see only 1 of their 4 matches in the competition ended with over 2.5 goals and they scored more than 1 goal just once.
Poland has also had troubles scoring with none of their European Championship games seeing over 2.5 goals or more than one goal from Poland.
As you’d expect Under 2.5 Goals is a strong favourite but I still think there is value to be had with Stan James who are offering a strong 1.73 on under 2.5. It may not be the biggest odds we’ll see today but sometimes the value is in the short prices and I think this game finishes with under 2.5 goals more than 60% of the time
