RUSSIA - ISRAEL: PREDICTIONS

Russia coasted past a poor Luxembourg side 4-1 to move into a clear lead over Israel in 3^rd. After the recent dismal 1-0 loss away to Northern Ireland things are back in their own hands again. They are still in a decent position in their tough World Cup qualifying tournament. In a group with Portugal and Israel they sit 2 points behind leaders Portugal with 1 game in hand. They have 5 wins 0 draws and 2 losses from 7 games. Beating Luxembourg Azerbaijan, Northern Ireland and impressively Portugal at home. On their travels they have hammered Israel 4-0 but lost to Northern Ireland and Portugal. In the qualifying they have been very strong indeed, defensively rigid and organised as you would expect of any Fabio Capello side. Scoring 12 and conceding just 3 with four clean sheets. Friendly games have been more relaxed with three draws and 1 win.  Russia are another side blighted by a lack of a decent striker. Aleksandr Kerzhakov is the best of the bunch but he can be a bit wasteful. Capello has drafted in Dynamo Moscow strike pair Kokorin and Smolov and was rewarded as Kokorin got off the mark with two goals.

Israel were in a decent position going into the game with Azerbaijan. A match that many saw as a formality and ease them into this showdown with Russia. However as is often the case whenever you do that you get a huge shock. Israel never got out of 1^st gear and a resolute Azerbaijan side marshalled by Bertie Vogts managed to hold the Israeli’s to a 1-1 draw. Israel are now 3 wins, 3 draws and 1 defeat and sit 3 points behind Russia and 5 behind Portugal (but with a game on hand on Portugal) Decent form for Israel though this year with 3 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat; The Israeli side is just lacking in leaders, players who will drag them through games and this was evident in the Wednesday draw with Azerbaijan.

RUSSIA - ISRAEL: BETTING TIPS 

A very tight game this one but I think a game too far for Israel.  No team has got anything from Russia in their homeland and  I don’t believe the Israeli’s will either. Russia were never out of 1^st gear against Luxembourg and they eased to a 4-1 victory. I feel Russia will be back in defensive mode for the more attack minded Isreal and see them more organised and focussed for this game.
