SWEDEN V IRELAND PREDICTIONS AND PREVIEW: BETTING STATS AND FACTS

This is a very important match between two sides who are fighting for qualification to the World Cup 2014.  Sweden are currently 2^nd in Group C with 7 points from 3 matches which leaves them 3 points behind German, albeit with a game in hand.  Sweden have beaten the Faroe Islands and Kazakhstan while drawing with Germany in a thrilling 4-4 draw, coming from 4-0 down.

Ireland are 3^rd in the group with 6 points from 3 matches and have also beaten Kazakhstan and the Faroe’s but lost heavily at home to Germany.  They know if they want to leapfrog Sweden into 2^nd place in the group and a playoff spot then they’ll have to take at least 4 points from the 2 matches against Sweden.

Both sides have played a number of friendlies since their last qualifying matches and Sweden have performed very well, beating England, Korea and Finland before losing a tight match 3-2 to Argentina.  Ireland have played two matches and after losing to Greece at the end of last year, bounced back to beat Poland 2-0 last month.

Sweden at home are a tough match for anyone and strong results against Germany and England show they can match the top sides on their day.  With Zlatan Ibrahimovic in top form with 6 goals in his last 5 matches he can hurt any team on his own and Ireland will have to pay very close attention to him.
