VENEZUELA - PERU: PREDICTIONS

Venezuela had a great start to the qualifying period but have had mixed results since the early days.  In the last 7 games Venezuela are 2 wins, 3 draws and 3 defeats.  Capable of excellent results such as the 1-0 home win over the rapidly improving Colombia, but then drawing with Bolivia and losing to Nigeria by three goals.  Key playmaker Juan Arango returns after  suspension and will be a big boost. The side are still recovering from a virus that struck the camp before the Chile game in Santiago. Almost the entire squad were affected and the resulting 3-0 loss was to be expected. Venezuela sit 3 points behind Uruguay in the 5^th position and with only 2 games left for them are in need of two wins. Out for the match is defender Grenddy Perozo who would have started the game.

Peru were on the fringes of the playoffs but the home loss to Uruguay in midweek has left them with mission impossible. Only 9 points from 9 and help from other sides will give them any chance. After this game they travel to Argentina and have a winnable end match with Bolivia. Peru have been pretty solid over the last year with 5 wins, 5 draws and 3 defeats. Goals in that time are low with 12 scored and 9 conceded and 6 clean sheets in that time. Peru are usually poor away from Lima though, with just 1 win in 6 travelling games in the last year. Massive players missing here too with Jefferson Farfan  & Victor Yotun both major players and will both sit out.

Peru do not travel well at all and with the key men out Venezuela are looking good for this game. Expect a vociferous crowd and in what should be a low scoring contest a very heated game.
