Georgia host current World and European champions Spain in a exciting match. Tblisi is the venue as Temuri Ketsbia sets his team up to challenge the best side in the world football.
2012 Form:
- Georgia P4 W3 D0 L1 GF6 GA5 - Average goals per game: 2.75
- Spain P12 W10 D2 L0 GF31 GA3 - Average goal per game:2.83
No previous head to head meetings.
Georgia opened up their qualifying campaign with a hard fought 1-0 over local rivals Belarus. The game was an even match and both sides gave little away. Georgia lined up in a 4-2-3-1 formation that may change for the Spain game. They have gone with the same formation for the three games so far this year and had 2 wins and a draw prior to the Belarus match. Beating Luxembourg and Albania though is no preparation for the visit of Spain. Georgia lost to Turkey in May which tells us the level they are currently at. They finished 2nd bottom of the Euro 2012 qualifiers and only managed 2 wins in the tournament, home victories over Malta and Croatia. Spain played a friendly game against Saudi Arabia and as expected destroyed them with an emphatic 5-0 win. Not surprisingly Del Bosque decided to start with an alternative side and rested several key players. They also had a change of formation, in came the Barcelona 4-3-3 with Torres backed up by Pedro and Cazorla. Expect all the key men to return for the Georgia match but I cannot see the formation remaining. Spain reported no injuries from the game which was perhaps the most important thing. They played their patient passing style and dominated the ball and the opposition.
Betting Prediction - Only 1 real outcome in this game and that is Spain winning with goals. They have all their players back and the benefit of fresher legs too. Georgia are an improving side and will be better then Euro 2012 for sure, however they will not be able to hold out for 90 minutes against this Spain team. The odds are really short however with a best price of Spain 1.15 (betvictor) Goal markets might offer more value with Over 2.5 goals 1.43 (Betfair) a good price.
