Israel has been in poor form this year, not winning any of their 5 games thus far.  They were beaten by Ukraine, Czech Republic and Germany in their first 3 friendlies of the year, losing multiple goals in each game.  They then held Hungary to a 1-1 draw in their final friendly before their World Cup Qualifying campaign started.

In game one in Group F on Friday Israel only managed a 1-1 draw away at Azerbaijan, a poor result that will dent their hopes of making it to the World Cup proper.

Russia has only lost one of their last 5 games and that was a European Championship Group defeat from Greece.  They played really well at the start of the Championships and will have been disappointed to lose that final game and miss out on qualification to the knockout stages. 

In their first World Cup Qualifying match they easily brushed aside Northern Ireland 2-0 at home, much tougher tests will follow however.
