CAGLIARI – ATALANTA: PREDICTIONS
It’s Italy Serie A and its Cagliari vs Atalanta in their temporary home in Trieste.
Cagliari will hope to build on their fantastic 11th place finish in last year’s Serie A. A big problem for the Sardinians is them playing their home game in Trieste, 600 miles away! They finished off the season their last year after problems with the league and their local council. Key man Thiago Ribeiro has left, Cagliari have brought in Danilo Avelar who is a decent left back. A couple of key men out too for Cagliari with Francesco Pisani and Andrea Cossu.
Atalanta had a poor finish last year, finishing 15th after a terrible run of form in 2013. They only won five of the last 25 games as they slipped perilously close to the drop zone. Franco Brienza, Daniele Capelli and Riccardo Cazzola are out while Luigi Giorgi is banned.

This game is essentially a neutral venue as Cagliari hold no advantage playing over 600 miles from their Sardinia base. Opening games are allways tight and Serie A games are tight in general. I prefer to go with Atalanta 0 on Asian handicap, the odds of 2.05 look like they could be shortening shortly as a move begins on Atalanta.
