Chievo v Napoli predictions & betting tips

Chievo drew Parma 0-0 in the Serie A opener last weekend. They did create enough though to have deserved a win, even if Parma had more possession.

Napoli has lost Cavani, but they will be serious contenders for the Serie A title still. Napoli won 3-0 in the season opener against Bologna, a side that beat Napoli both home and away last season. Napoli was dominant throughout and could easily have scored a couple more. New recruit Higuain will sit out. This is obviously a big blow but it will give Insigne a chance to shine. He is a talented young man, and I think he’ll do an excellent job. New recruit Dries Mertens could also be given more minutes.

Predictions for run of play

Since and including 2011 Chievo has beaten Napoli three times out of three. Twice they’v won 2-0 and once 1-0. Last season they won 2-0 in a game Napoli dominated. At the time Napoli was in the middle of a really bad run. Napoli even missed a penalty here. My point is, Napoli deserved better.

I think Napoli has strengthened the team enough to push Juventus to the door. Callejon looked bright against Bologna. Albiol adds some needed pondus to the center of defense. Pepe Reina is a world class keeper.

I certainly think Napoli has enough to run over this Chievo side.The home side will have to rely on counter attacks to threaten Napoli. Unfortunately for them; I don’t see them getting many clear chances. Even if they did (like against Parma), it doesn’t look like they have the player material up front to convert enough chances into goals.

As always it will be down to conversion on the day, and having Higuain fit would have been a plus, but this looks like a good away win shout to me.
