Lazio were on a great run, but has hit a brick wall. Two straight losses in the Serie A is form that needs to be turned around quickly if Lazio is to keep their dream of Champions League football next season alive. Napoli is now only 3 points behind once runaway Serie A leader Juventus. Napoli will be looking to capitalize on any sign of poor form from the home side. Lazio is 9-1-2 at home in the Serie A. In between Lazio’s two recent Serie A losses they beat Juventus at home in the Coppa Italia, so I am not sure we can point at Lazio and deem them out of form just yet. At the Stadio Olimpico they have shown who is:” Padroni di Roma” (the masters of Rome). Good sides like Juventus, Inter, AC Milan and Udinese has come here and lost this season.
Napoli is 6-2-3 away from home in the Serie A. In their last six away games Napoli is 4-1-1, and their overall form stats are excellent. A quick look at their fixture list indicates Napoli is not excellent away to the Serie A top half of the table teams. So far Napoli has played five away matches against the top ten. The score is 1-2-2.
Last season Lazio beat Napoli in this fixture 3-1. Napoli had most possession, but the result was okay as Lazio created most in terms of chances. The reverse fixture this season ended 3-0 for Napoli after Cavani scored a hat trick. The game was more even than the score line suggests, but Cavani was unstoppable that September evening.
Team News
Lazio will again miss the experienced striker Klose. He got injured badly against Genoa last match day (I hope you followed my prediction and bet Genoa at over 3x your money). 37 year old midfielder Brocchi will not feature due to injury. Candreva, another midfielder looks set to play after receiving treatment for a recent knock. Brazillian midfielder Ederson is still out.
Napoli will miss swiss midfielder Dzemaili. Zuniga, also a midfielder is arriving in Napoli 08.02 after international duty with Colombia. He might be suffering from jet lag and could be given rest. Yet another midfielder, Maggio is a doubt for this game after having taken time in the treatment room.
Betting prediction
Floccari is a decent striker. So he can take over Klose's goal scoring burden to some degree. Florccari has scored in his two last starts, and he needs to be on form again against a Scudetto chasing Napoli pack. If not I think Lazio will suffer as they are up against one of Europe's best forwards in Cavani, and an in general attack minded Napoli side that can get plenty of goals fromt their dynamic midfielders like Hamsik and Inler.
I think Lazio has enough quality at home to make this a fairly even contest, but Napoli has the best chance in my opinion to convert chances to goals this Saturday night. I shout away win!
