Sampdoria (4-6-8) suffered their first loss in six last week, and being just a few points above the drop zone, cannot afford a poor run of results. With only two  home wins in nine league games all season, this needs improving if they are to stay safe. Udinese (6-2-10) suffered a bad home defeat last week, and are also struggling just two points and a place above Sampdoria in the league. Away form has been an issue with just two wins all season, and this game could be classed as something of a potential relegation scrap. A good midweek cup win over Inter is the only plus point for Udinese going into this match. Ever present midfielder Obiang is suspended for Sampdoria, and Udinese are still without injured striker Muriel.
