Tonight there is a very interesting match between Viking and Stromsgodset, two clubs fighting for a top three placement in the Norwegian Tippeliga. 

Many had disregarded Viking as a medal contender this season, especially after they sold Lanlay to Rosenborg and Berisha to Greuther Furth. But Viking still has a strong squad, and the attackers that have been given the chance have impressed and played entertaining attacking style football. Next midweek Viking will play the semi-final in the Norwegian cup, it could be that they have this match in mind tonight, but it is still several days until that match and a win today will mean Viking is seven points ahead of Stromsgodset, so they should be very motivated.

In the last ten league matches, Viking has won seven and scored 21 goals. They are, in other words, in great form, and no new injuries or suspensions have been reported ahead of tonight’s match.

Stromsgodset has been strong after they replaced their former coach. They did get a little form dip after losing in the Europa League and lost at home to Stabaek and away to Aalesund, but have fought their way back into the fight for a top three spot recently, with three consecutive wins and 11 goals scored. At the moment they are only four points behind Viking. It is therefore crucial for them to avoid a loss today, and there are six matches left of the season after tonight’s match.

Stromsgodset is a team, like Viking, that like to play offensive football, so we should expect a very entertaining match. There are no new injuries or suspensions reported for Stromsgodset, and Marcus Pedersen is back from suspension and will likely start the match. If this means that Tagbajumi will not start I am not sure about, as he was really good in the 5-0 win over Haugesund!

I do expect several goals in this match, despite the fact that the last two encounters between the teams in Stavanger ended in few goals. The reverse fixture this summer ended 4-1 to Stromsgodset. What is a bit uncertain is how the coaches decide to start the match, it could be that they will start by playing a bit carefully, but could also be that one of the teams will start in high tempo and aggressive style. I recommend that you watch this match live, as you can then assess how the teams are playing. This is the type of match where, if one team scores, there is likely to be lots of more goals. So I will be looking to bet over 2.5 goals at around odds 2.0 or higher.
