MAGDEBURG - BORUSSIA DORTMUND: PREDICTIONS

Borussia Dortmund return to competitive action not so long after their Champions League final, they face a Magdeburg side from the fourth tier of German football.

Magdeburg are in a decent period in their ongoing transformation. At the end of the season 2012/13, the club finished sixth, one of their best recent performances. The additional win of the regional cup in a dramatic final against Germania Halberstadt and in front of a crowd of more than 13000 created excitement and new-found belief in the club's chances for promotion in the coming seasons.

Borussia Dortmund are one of the success storys of European football. Regularly playing in front of crowds in excess of 80,000 they are showing the way forward for many teams. Although distinctly 2nd best to Bayern Munich they can consider themselves one of the best sides in Europe after making a Champions League final. With a prodigious talent in spotting players who others discard and turning them into world class players, alongside a good eye for the younger players Dortmund have the tools to challenge year after year. The only problem for them seems to be their willingness to sell players, Bayern are circling with Real Madrid also eyeing up some of the players too.
