KUBAN KRASNODAR – SPARTAK MOSCOW: PREDICTIONS
Russian Premier League is in full swing now with teams joshing for position. Its Kuban Krasnodar against Spartak Moscow at Kuban Stadium.
Kuban Krasnodar is one of the oldest clubs in Russia and does have 4 Russian 2nd league titles to its name. These were many years ago however, the best finish for Kuban was a runners up spot in 1979. The side performed wonders last year and finished 5th ahead of sides with better tradition, budgets and squads. A real testament to the two coaches who took charge of Kuban last year: Kuchuk and Kraznozhan. Kuban only have a small squad of players but that contributes to their success. They have not changed much this season but have brought in French striker Djibril Cisse. Kuban have started the season well, an away win at Tom Tomsk plus decent draws against Zenit and Rubin Kazan. Kuban have Vladislav Ignatijev missing and he is a key player for them.
Spartak Moscow are one of the underachieving sides of Russian football over the past few years. Despite being the most successful club in Russia with 12 Soviet championships and 9 Russian Premier leagues they have not managed to grab a title since 2001 despite spending millions on players and coaches. The current squad is the best they have had over the past decade or so, with coach Valeri Karpin they have the best chance of success this time around. They have started excellently with three wins from three; beating Kryla Sovetov, Ural and Dinamo Moscow all away from home. Missing for Spartak are Romulo Monteiro and Soslan Gatagov (both squad member) and a few doubts over starters Waris Majeed and Sergie Bryzkalov.
KUBAN KRASNODAR – SPARTAK MOSCOW: BETTING TIPS
This game looks a very close one in Kuban and you could make a strong case for both sides. Kuban have had a difficult start but remain unbeaten. Spartak have played all their games away from home so far but have beaten all three sides with the last match very impressive as they demolished local rivals Dinamo 4-1. Kuban are not a patch on Dinamo so I have to lean towards Spartak here. I take Spartak Moscow at 0 (1.75 Bet365) I think they will leave Krasnodar with their unbeaten streak intact but take the insurance.
