After an unbeaten start of 4 wins and a draw which included three clean sheets they topped the table.  They came to an abrubt halt after the fixture list threw up three consecutive away ties in Moscow; Lokomotiv and CSKA won both their games while Rostov grabbed a 1-1 with Dinamo. At home Rostov are 3-1-0 with 11 scored and 3 conceded, while they have the leagues top scorer in Artem Dzyuba who has 7 in 8 games.

Zenit St Petersburg sit 2^nd in the league with 5 wins, 2 draws and 1 defeat. The defeat came in gameweek 2  away to Rubin which is one of the hardest fixtures in the calendar. After that game Zenit went on a run of 8 wins and 2 draws in all competitions until midweek when Atletico Madrid proved too good for Zenit who deserved to lose, and did 3-1.
