SPARTAK MOSCOW – RUBIN KAZAN: PREDICTIONS

After four games of the season Spartak Moscow make their 1^st home game of the season,  Both sides are unbeaten and this is one  of the games of the day in Russia.

Spartak Moscow sit atop the Russian Premier league despite not playing a single home game. Four games have yielded 3 wins and 1 draw.  Impressive wins over Kryla Sovetov, Ural and Dynamo Moscow gave them 3 wins from 3, last week they found Kuban Krasnodar a tough match but still managed a 2-2 draw.  Away fixtures in Russia are usually all difficult games so 10 points from 12 is a very good start to the season. Huge loss for Spartak will be forward Emmanuel Eminike who was sold to Fenerbahce, the striker had already scored 3 in his 4 games and will be missed.

Rubin Kazan of Russia are one of the new wave of teams from the old Soviet Union to come good over the last few years. Rubin have won the league twice (2008 and 2009) and have competed in the Champions League with some notable victories.  Rubin have played 4 games in the league so far with 1 win and 3 draws. A home win over Zenit and a draw with CSKA show the home strength of Rubin as these are the two best sides in the league. Away draws with Kuban and Terek Grozny highlight the difficulty in away games.

A very tough game for both sides, for me though Rubin always lose something away from home. Capable of giving any team a game in Tartarstan they can be too defensive on the road. Spartak will rue the loss of Eminike but they have quality in depth and do look very strong this season. They are exceptional attacking side and are able to concede without looking beat, which is a great sign. I take Spartak Moscow at 2.05 to win (bet365) and think they could have a great season too.
