HIBERNIAN – MOTHERWELL: PREDICTIONS 

Hibernian host Motherwell at Easter Road, its Scotland Premiership and two teams who will fight for the runners up spot.

Hibernian go into the season on a bit of a low after being annilihated in their opening Europa League match. After losing 2-0 in Sweden Hibs were looking to save a bit of face on their own patch. What followed was a disaster as they conceded 7 goals to grab the unwanted record home defeat.  After an excellent season scoring 23 goals it was always likely Leigh Griffiths would return South and Wolves did indeed order a recall. His loss will be keenly felt, however replacements have arrived and Owan Tudor Jones, Fraser Mullen and Rowan Vine are all decent players for this level. Not all doom and gloom in Edinburgh but a top six should be achieved.

Motherwell lose their star man too, last years Player of the Year Micheal Higdon leaves for NEC of Holland. The Scouser managed 40 in 72 for Motherwell which is a superb strike rate and almost impossible for Motherwell to replace. Out also are Darren Randolph, Nicky Law and Chris Humphrey.Motherwell made a losing start to their Europa League venture too, a 2-0 home loss to Krasnodar. Well were outclassed against the Russians and will go out at their 1^st game like Hibs did.

 

HIBERNIAN – MOTHERWELL: BETTING TIPS

Quite a move on Motherwell already, after opening up around 2.40 they are short as 2.20 now. I am not taking any match prices as I am always wary during the 1^st few rounds. I take Over 2.5 goals in this one at 1.83 (bet365). This fixture is packed with goals over the last few seasons. 23 in the last 5 games at an average of 4.6 goals per game. Two sides who should be challenging for the top 3 but I think Motherwell are more likely than a sorry Hibs side.
