PARTICK – DUNDEE UNITED : PREDICTIONS

Scotland Premier League returns with  a Friday night match. Both sides will be eager to have a stint at the top of the table. With Celtic as short as 1-50 to retain the league it’s a battle for runners up for everyone else.

Partick won the Division 1 title deservedly and were the better side for sure. With a solid defence and a capable attack they earned their place in the top flight. However key men Paul Paton and Chris Erskine have both left the side (coincidentally to today’s rivals Dundee United) A few men have been drafted in: Mexican defender Gabriel de la Vega; English forward Henoc Mukendi; midfielder Mark Kerr and goalkeeper Paul Gallacher. Most important could be the loan of Midfielder Gary Fraser from Bolton. The ex-Hamilton man is a class player at this level and could be the difference for Partick.

Dundee United will look to improve on last year’s finish of 6^th in the Championship Phase. United go into the season again with the loss of their main man, this year it was Johnny Russell who has left for Derby. Manager Jackie McNamara brings in the two Partick men Erskine and Paton who will be integral for the side I fell.  A gamble was taken on ex-striker David Goodwillie, who failed miserably at Blackburn. Goodwillie is a decent forward at this level and if he can fire Dundee United can ignite for sure.
