ST MIRREN V CELTIC PREDICTIONS

St Mirren have their first match since their League Cup triumph and will be hoping they can keep the feel good factor going with a win against the league leaders here.  Celtic have all but clinched the title and will be aiming to make it 2 in a row within the next few weeks.

St Mirren’s league form has not been good this year and they are in 11^th position with 33 points form 30 matches.  Thankfully for them Dundee are having such a terrible season and are 13 points behind which means no chance of relegation.  As I said above, St Mirren’s last match was the League Cup final where they beat Hearts 3-2 in a thriller.  They will take plenty of confidence from that and since they beat Celtic in the semi-finals they’ll have no fear here.

Celtic are top of the SPL with 65 points from 31 matches which gives them a 12 point lead over second placed Motherwell.  They had a run of 2 straight SPL defeats which was looking very likely to turn into 3 when they were 3-1 down to Aberdeen after 65 minutes of their last match.  A heroic comeback with 3 late goals say Celtic snatch a thrilling 4-3 win in the dying seconds to send the fans that stayed into rapture.

Celtic will want to kick on from that result and wrap up the title soon and it’ll only take a few more wins to seal it.
