ALMERIA - VILLARREAL: PREDICTIONS

This fixture was a Segunda Liga match last season so both sides will be eased into life in the top league.

Almeria were playing in tier 5 of the Spanish pyramid as recently as 1992, making the transition to the top flight in just 14 years. A series of decent finishes in the top flight was ended as they dropped down to the 2^nd in 2011. Almeria find themselves at the top table again and will be hoping to stay a little longer.  Almeria find themselves as short priced favourite to be relegated and will have to play the season of their lives to stay up. A few interesting players have come in on loan; Striker Rodri from Barce B, attacker Suso from Liverpool and Marco Torsiglieri.  Last years prolific top scorer Charles was lost to Celta and his 32 goals will be missed for sure.

Villarreal are not stranger to the top flight after being a feature in the division for many years. Indeed only a Juan Riquelme fluff from the spot denied them a place in a Champions League final, for a team as small as the Yellow Submarine it was a fairytale story. They fell out of the top flight in 2012 but just spent the one season in 2^nd division. Villarreal are one of the few sides outside the big clubs to have actually spent any money. They lost key man Christian Zapata to Milan, with Marcos Senna chasing the dollars in MLS. Juanma has gone too but Villarreal have brought in a few decent players. In comes central defender Gabriel Paulista, midfielder Tomas Pina and striker Giovanni Dos Santos.
